Discrimination in Disguise!

The New economic policy of 90's, Capitalism and globalization & liberalisation has helped people to come out of poverty and somehow diluted the caste system in India. 

However unlike poverty, Caste is a peculiar thing. We can eradicate poverty by series of some socio-economic policies or through some economic refroms.

But caste, as Ambedkar said, is not a wall of bricks or barbed wire. Caste is a Notion; it's a state of mind.

That's why caste system didn't get much affected by new changes brought in by modernised era.

This Parasitic Caste, in its own way altered itself to the new changes brought in by the globalization. 

The same old caste wine in new globalized bottle!

For example, many might have heard or seen, one of the forms of untouchability called the two-tumbler system(இரட்டைக் குவளை முறை) in tea shops. 

After the globalisation in 90's, government curbed the restrictions on plastic production and its import. 

               A Caste friendly Cup.

This led to the wide usage of plastic  disposable cups all over India/Tamilnadu. 

These disposable cups actually replaced the two-tumbler system in tea shops. 

As I said above, One way of dilution of Caste untouchability. Well, it might seem a great one.

But at the same time, these disposable cups, though not Eco friendly has now become Caste friendly to perpetrate the new form of untouchability. 

Hurrah! We got the new unsuspectable caste friendly cup.

It didn't remove any but it changed/shifted the form of discrimination from one to another.

Many may think and still some people believe that usage of disposable cups is for convenient purpose. But it's not. 

A big No.

I won't deny the convenient factor, but it's not solely used for that convenient purpose.

In that way, it served to veil the casteist mentality of people. By that they can discriminate in disguise without getting arrested by law!

Still, these Disposable cups are continuing to be discrimination cups. Yet another form of Discrimination. But in disguise!
